Cricket Australia has barred Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Hasnain from bowling after biomechanical testing in Lahore verified his movement was illegal, which was first flagged during a stay with the Sydney Thunder last month.
According to a statement released on Friday, Hasnain exceeded the ICC’s 15-degree rule for elbow extension on his “good length delivery, full-length delivery, slow bouncer, and bouncer” on January 21 at Lahore’s University of Management Sciences.
The 21-year-old speedster, who often exceeds 145 kilometers per hour, will miss Pakistan’s home series against Australia next month due to the suspension.
He’s also been barred from bowling in the Pakistan Super League, and he’ll have to start working on his action right away. Hasnain had taken 3-76 for the Quetta Gladiators in the first three games of the competition while analysis on his performance was being finished.
After Hasnain’s BBL debut with the Thunder on January 2, umpire Gerard Abood reported his bowling. He had already participated in 70 T20 matches around the world, including 18 at an international level, as well as eight One-Day Internationals (ODIs) at the time.
