HBL has been named Pakistan’s Best Bank for 2021 by Euromoney. The bank also won the Asiamoney award for Best Domestic Bank in Pakistan 2021 earlier this year.
These two honors are the most distinguished in the banking business around the world.
The HBL’s leadership performance and innovative approach in its Consumer banking, Commercial banking, and Development Finance business streams, leveraging its digital banking platforms, leading the way in financial inclusion, as well as the launch of the Beijing branch and capturing opportunities associated with the CPEC initiative, have all been recognized with these awards. These are unquestionably well-deserved honours, especially given the fact that they come against the backdrop of enormous global challenges, including in Pakistan.

“Habib Bank (HBL) is going from strength to strength under Muhammad Aurangzeb,” according to a Euromoney citation (President & CEO). Surprisingly, HBL doubled its after-tax profits to PRS 30.9 billion ($193.4 billion) in a year when most banks across the world were fighting to stop the losses caused by Covid.
HBL’s commercial strength in e-payments, cards, vehicles, and trade is mentioned specifically in the citation.
“Agriculture is a mainstay of HBL’s innovative efforts; the bank strives not just to pay farmers but also deploys full-time agronomists to help with raising crop yields,” the citation says of HBL’s rural banking/development finance strategy. Euromoney and Asiamoney are global English-language business and financial journals.
