As the schedule for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 was released on Friday, two of the biggest rivals, Pakistan and India, will face off in their first encounter of the tournament on October 23.
The Men in Green will face India, as they did in the last edition because the two countries have been grouped together for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022, which will be held in Australia.
The cricket carnival will take place in Australia from October 16 to November 13, with matches taking place in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Geelong, Hobart, and Perth, among other cities. In the Super 12 round of the next event, the arch-rivals will be joined by Bangladesh, South Africa, and two teams from the first round in group 2.
In October of last year, team green thrashed Kohli XI by ten wickets in the sides’ T20 World Cup opener, marking the team’s first-ever triumph against neighbors in a World Cup match.
Pakistan won by 10 wickets against any opposition in a T20 match for the first time, while India suffered the humiliation of losing by such a large margin for the first time. In ICC Men’s T20 World Cup History, both teams have faced each other six times, with India winning five of those encounters.
Meanwhile, Pakistan will play the winner of Group B in the first round, which is most likely to be the West Indies, in the forthcoming big event. On the 30th of October, the Pakistani team will face the runner-up of Group A in the first round, which might be Namibia.
The green shirts will meet the Proteas at the SCG on November 3rd, with the previous champions playing Bangladesh on November 6th in Adelaide. The tournament’s Super 12s will include a total of 12 teams, divided into two groups of six each.
Semi-finals will be Played on 9 and 10 November at the SCG and Adelaide Oval, respectively. For the first time the Adelaide Oval will host a World Cup semi-final, and the MCG will host the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 final on November 13, 2022.
