Instagram Lite finally launched by Facebook

Facebook had been working on a lite or new version of Instagram. It is named “Instagram Lite.” This app was in the developing phase for a long while and is finally launched now.

The new app is less data-intensive. It utilizes significantly fewer phone resources allowing users to use the service even if they live in an area having band connectivity.

The best part about the app is its small size which is just 2MB. It’s because all the data-rich animations and other heavy features are cut off. In addition to this, the app doesn’t contain cube traditions and AR filters. These are some of the things that consume most of the data.

However, Instagram Lite will support GIFs and stickers. They can be applied to the stories. The app also comes with a dark mode. This is the most requested theme by smartphone users. It looks pretty elegant as it gives out a dark text to a black background with grey letters.

According to Facebook, the dark mode will give more privacy to the people living in communal areas or close quarters.

Instagram Lite is now available for download on Google Play Store. Around 170 countries have access to the app. Moreover, Facebook promised that this app would be available in other countries and regions soon.
