Samar Khan, a mountain biker and adventure athlete, has been the first woman to reach the base camp of the world’s highest peak.
Khan, who boasts the distinction of becoming the first Pakistani to ride to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro and the Biafo Glaciers in the Karakoram Range, has set a new record by cycling to the treacherous mountain’s base camp. Khan cycled from Askole, a small village in Shigar Valley, to K2 base camp on her journey.
She posted her historic achievement on Instagram. “Doorway to Choghori” is a phrase that means “doorway to Choghori” (K2). She captioned the photo, “The stage where prayers are granted or sometimes postponed, where I got to view the clear face of majestic Choghori, standing with grace.”

Khan stated in her account that she was able to achieve her objective despite the difficult conditions, since she had to endure long nights of “chasing oxygen” and prayers. There were numerous injuries, and I was suffering with cold on the journey, but we got there in the end, she said in a series of blog posts.

Previously, the award-winning biker girl was the first woman to ride her bike on the Biafo Glacier, which is located at an elevation of 4,500 metres in the Karakoram region.
Khan has competed in several races and has helped to raise awareness about extreme sports in the South Asian country. The young rider has been outspoken about the importance of supporting and promoting lesser-known sports.
