One of the world’s leading music stream services Spotify is now available officially in Pakistan. Pakistan is one the 80 new markets where Spotify launched this month. As compared to other popular music stream services like Deezer and Tidal, Spotify is offering subscriptions at super amazing prices. Where Deezer charges almost 1500 PKR for its premium family membership, Spotify only charges 600 PKR.
While other music streaming services have failed to offer prices according to Pakistan’s economic situation, Spotify has well-placed itself in the market with highly competitive yet lower rates. The newly launched service is available for free in iOS and Android apps. The users also have an option to upgrade their Spotify account to a premium account in order to have ad-free access. With the premium membership, there are other features as well such as download music for 299 PKR or approximately $1.9 per month. Spotify also offers a family subscription in just 479 PKR which can be used by 6 family members. The cheapest Spotify subscription is available for 149 PKR for students in the university.
Additionally, Telenor and Zong users can also pay for the subscription with the help of their monthly credit bills. According to a statement made by Spotify, it has come to the knowledge that the app has over 70 million local and international music tracks. The app already includes many music from Pakistan such as Drama OSTs, Loadshedding Longing, and other rock and music hits.
The Managing Director of Spotify, Claudius Boller said:
We want to share the gift of music with as many people as possible to enrich the lives of not only our listeners, but the local artists who will now have access to a global audience. We always want to be where our fans are, and with this expansion we are furthering our mission of sharing the sounds of Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka with the rest of the world.
People are going to enjoy Spotify music applications in such amazing rates. After Patari, the launch of Spotify has confirmed that the music industry in Pakistan has a huge potential.
